Easter Eggs

I had seen lots of pretty painted easter eggs & really wanted to paint some myself this holiday.  I decided it's pointless to color hard boiled eggs though since nobody really wants to eat the egg inside & then you don't get to keep the egg you spent so much time making pretty! I would have preferred wooden eggs but didn't order them in time. So I convinced my mom & Meg they wanted to paint eggs too so we grabbed some paper mache eggs from Micheals. Here are my finished eggs :)
Here are some close ups. Mostly I just love all the pastel ones, but the neon ones are fun too.
For now their resting place is our mantle, but I hope to come up with a better way to display them next year.
I hope to paint some next year as well to the point where I have a lot of painted eggs. It would be fun to turn them into a wreath for the front door.
This last week was so much fun as my mom & youngest siblings were on spring break! The girls (my mom, Meg, Prez, cousin Alexa & I) went & took some fun classes at the gym including yoga, body jam, & zumba. We are considering getting a 3 month pass to go during the summer, so hopefully I can lose all my baby weight. We also headed down to city creek. I'm actually pretty jealous that Jeremy works right there & can walk over whenever he wants. Not that he will take advantage of that since he hates shopping. Anyways my fam headed to Vegas & I was so sad Jeremy & I didn't join. Especially when Jeremy made me sit thru 3 1/2 hours of Titanic in 3D! Are you kidding me?? It was torture, but for some reason Jeremy felt like he had missed out not seeing it on the big screen since he was gone on his mission. What a crazy person he is.
Luckily our Easter sunday was lovely as we went to church & then headed over to Earl & Sandy's for a delicious Ham & potatoes meal. We even had strawberry shortcake for dessert, yum! We also watched the Masters, which I have to say was actually highly entertaining. Since the weather was nice we even took a motorcycle ride around Farmington. Don't worry it was just a slow scenic ride, but it was really fun to see everyone outside celebrating Easter. Well I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, I'm excited for it to be in the high 70's this week!
Sorry for so many pictures of my eggs, I'm just so proud :)

Nursery progress

I have been debating whether or not to unveil the stencil we painted in the nursery this early or not.. But I am so excited about it I can't wait! Plus I'm sure I will probably have lots of other nursery/baby related updates I will want to post in the future.
So here it is!
The lighting in the before & after shots are poor since I forgot to open the shutters for some reason but you get the idea :) I absolutely loved how the finished stencil turned out! I was originally going to do a metallic paint but chickened out at the last second.. Maybe next time ;)
I can't thank my sister in laws Amy & Meghan enough for all the time an effort they put into helping me. Seriously I have the best family ever! We knocked it out in one day, but it was a good 7 hours before I finished. It's always a little harder then you think!
Anyways this is my new favorite room in the house, I love to just sit & stare at the wall.
Hope the little man enjoys grey geometrics!

DIY paint chip art

Remember this triangle paint chip DIY that I posted a while back?
Well I made a couple other renditions that I also love!
This one using hexagon creams, pinks & golds.
I thought it was cute to add a little monogram overlay as well in silver glitter.
Such a fun and easy DIY.

Craft time

Yep I love me some craft time! :) Pinterest has really helped me to keep all my DIY projects all in one place, not to be forgotten. I fell in love when I saw this DIY with paint chips cut into triangles. There is nothing I love more right now than geometric shapes & tons of colors!
Here is my finished piece!
Supplies needed to make one of these beauties:
*frame
 (size of your choice)
*scissors
*paint samples
(I got mine from lowes, home depot & walmart. "Stealing" the paint samples was a little embarrassing for me but no one seemed to care?)
*glue
(after trying a couple different kinds, I would actually suggest a plain old glue stick! The craft glue was messier, made the corners curl up from the moisture & you couldn't move the paint chips around much once you had placed them.)
I love how customizable this art piece is with millions of color & shape options. Here are a couple examples of what we came up with...
I ended up making a million different versions of this DIY (I will post the other renditions later). Not only is it basically free, especially if you already have a frame on hand, but it is super simple! Even more simple when I realized I could take all my paint chips to my mom's school and use a die cut to get perfect shapes instead of doing them by hand with scissors! The shapes don't match up as perfectly when you cut them by hand.
Doesn't it just look lovely!!??
At one point the little ones had gone quiet & we suspected mischief..
someone had found the glitter :) Hehe
how cute is Emmerson with a glitter makeover?
A big thanks to Bri for a delicious lunch & letting us make your a mess at your house! Can't wait for the next craft day! If you live in Utah feel free to join anytime :)

Personalized Canvas

I saw this cute personalized canvas decoration on pinterest..
It cost $195 euro's.. not worth it! So I got together with some friends and we made our own!!
Here is my version..
It was fairly simple to make, though it took more time than I had expected.
Supplies needed: square canvas, wooden letters, & paint. I found all of my supplies at good old Micheals. The cost for everything was only about $15 bucks!
I would recommend painting your canvas and wooden letters BEFORE you glue them on. I learned the hard way that it was very difficult to paint the sides of the letters & in the small crevices with a tiny paint brush. Also I would suggest using something other than hot glue. It didn't hold the letters as well as I had hoped..
Just to add a little twist & make it different from the original, I added a pop of color by painting the heart red & loved how it turned out :)
I decided to personalize my canvas by using lyrics (which is also the title) of what Jeremy & I consider to be "our song". It is by Band of Horses. If you have never heard it you should definitely download it, because it is simple lovely! :)
Love craft day's! So nice to be in Utah where all the supplies are so accessible.

Nonsense of all sorts

This whole post will be dedicated to all the random nonsense going on in my head & real life. If you find it strange just ignore me..

*I have had to put a time limit of an 1 1/2 of television watching a night because it seems every night there are a zillion things we want to watch including: glee, teen mom, american idol (which is 2 nights), ABDC, Kloe & Lamar, and somehow Real World Las Vegas.. I know it's gotta stop!

*My hair is 24 1/2 inches right now. Measured from center part down, that has to be a record. Speaking of hair I really want to learn how to do these old fashion curls.. Anyone know how??
*Jeremy has not spoken to me in the last 2 days. Don't worry we are not in a fight or anything, but he is reading Water for Elephants & can't seem to put it down. So funny when he comes home for lunch & goes straight upstairs to get his book. Silly boy. At least it takes time away from our t.v problem above..

* We have really liked jamming out to Black Eyed Peas new album lately & even watched a live concert on MTV the other night. Which always starts the debate of whether Fergie is hot or not.. Anyways we found out we both love Jaime Gomez (Taboo) & he is definitely our favorite in the group. It's things like this that reassure us we are soul mates :)
* I am currently obsessed with anything rainbow, shoes & geometric patterns.

*Yesterday I went to an Acrylic paint class. (Erin are you proud?) I think it turned out pretty good even though this is not my style..
*I  HATE cold sores!!!! I currently am sporting 2 these days :(

* I have been singing at the top of my lungs to ADELE's new album all week. I am just addicted to her voice. I really would love to see her in concert, but alas tickets are from $350-$800! Apparently other people love her as much as I do :(

*My nephew Atlas called me last night (with the help of his parents), and man that kid just melts my heart. It is so sweet to hear him saying my name & knowing he finally knows who I am. It reminded me of when I got to watch him as a baby & oh how I miss those days. I miss him often.

*I can't seem to say the word supposedly. It is for some reason a tongue twister for me. I always exchange the D for a B. Supposebly? I just can't get it right.. Anyone else find this word difficult to say?

*Diesel's daily schedule:
6am- crawl's out from under the covers and walks all over the bed. Paws dad's face till he says NO! NOT YET!!
6am-730am- lays by dad's face and wags his tail every time dad moves.
730am- dad FINALLY feeds you, while mommy still peacefully sleeps. You lick your bowl clean & then come up & do a weird silent bark thing & pace back in forth till mom picks you up.
8-9am- lays at the corner of the bed with his paws hanging out from under the covers until mom gets up for the day.
9-10am- takes a lovely stroll to one of his 3 pooping areas. He sniffs around everywhere like he might choose a new spot but then comes back to his usual dumping grounds. He circles between 11-16 times & then pops a squat. (He is very particular) Then he pee's on at least 7 different rocks/plants/trees.
10-1pm- lays on the couch & does absolutely nothing until dad comes home for lunch. Greets him at the door & sits on his lap while I make lunch.
1-2pm- silently stares at us while we eat lunch.
2-430pm- takes nap.
430-5pm- follows mom around to remind her it's almost dinner time. Eats or shall I say swallows his food at 5pm.
530-7pm- takes a second walk or some sort of field trip to the golf course, beach or dad's office for exercise.
7pm-silently stares again while we eat dinner.
8pm- runs around like a crazy.
830pm- chews on his toy fox.
9pm- snores the night away.

repeat this everyday.
:)

Great Start

I arrived in Utah Friday, & it was a great start to a hopefully awesome week.
I got to go downtown SLC to check out Nick & Erin's latest art collection.
It was really cool, they had some really great pieces. My favorite was either the top right or the colorful horse one in the middle of the bottom right picture. I loved all the bright colors mixed with the more neutral pieces.
Hawkes was very pleased with his aunt & uncle.
It was a very happy night.
It was Atlas's 2nd birthday & he got a bunch of sesame st. books & stuff. (He LOVES sesame st especially the cookie monster.) He was very happy with his presents...
even though he had a melt down when other people were holding his stuff.. he is too cute!

The buildings surrounding the copper palate (where they were showing their art) were full of different art/graffiti. Such a fun background for pictures!

That night I got to play with Atlas & hang out with Landon, Meg, Jaxon, & Hawkes. Atlas is SO fun & full of energy. He was running all over the place with "Jackie."
Such a fun night.
