Saying goodbye to Diesel

I have been avoiding blogging just so I didn't have to write this post. Jeremy and I had noticed Diesel getting older and run down. He stopped going up and down the stairs, and avoided walking on our wood floor because he was nervous of falling. His back legs would give out and then he couldn't get back up. He still seemed happy, but just didn't get around as well. Then we started noticing him having accidents right in front of us & having a harder time getting around to where we were just carrying him around everywhere. I knew he was getting older but hoped there was something that could be done to relieve his pain. Jeremy took him into the vet & he basically said that there was a surgery he could do to fix the discs in Diesels back which were causing him problems. Although the there was only a 50% chance it would help & he still didn't have much longer. They gave him a cortizone shot & sent him home. We noticed he was more chipper and could move around better after the shot, but it only lasted a day. We knew it was time to say good bye to our beloved dog, and scheduled to have him put down after the weekend.
Those next couple days were some of the hardest I can remember. I literally cried for three days on and off. Every time I looked at him I cried, it was so awful thinking about letting this companion go that had gotten me thru so many hard times. I felt badly for not taking better care of him, or giving him more attention especially when the kids came along. We took Diesel with us everywhere that weekend. In the car, and to the park.
The night before we were to put Diesel down we threw a birthday/going away party for him with the boys. I wanted my kids to remember what a good dog he was and to celebrate him. We went to pet co and the boys helped me pick out a bunch of treats. They were very excited to be able to give Diesel all his food for his birthday & we decorated a little corner of the house.

The next day was very hard saying our final goodbyes. Makes me never want to get a dog again, knowing the pain it causes to lose them. Afterwards though I did feel at peace knowing he was no longer in pain & in a better place.
Kingsley constantly asked about Diesel & heaven, and cried that he wanted Diesel back which was heartbreaking for me. He kept saying is Jesus babysitting him?
The thing I miss most is walking into the house & not having his sweet cheerful spirit greet me. He was such a great dog and we will miss him greatly.
Not sure Hudson will remember Diesel, but at least I can show the boys these pictures.
Here I am about 6 months pregnant. Miss that cuddly chubby dog.
Until we meet again Diesel, we love and miss you!

iphone case

I got a new iphone case, to cover my new iphone which I already dropped & cracked within 3 days of getting it. (Insert very angry husband here) Luckily the apple store took pity on me & replaced it even though they should have charged me $200!
Anyways my new case of my bff Diesel is awesome, it makes me smile every time I look at it :)
I would highly recommend using uncommon to upload your own photo of your husband, child, or pup for your case. You won't regret it!

For the love of Cheerios

The other day I got to hang out with my sweet little nephew Hawkes. He loves Diesel! Diesel is pretty scared of little ones but seems to tolerate Hawkes for some reason. They actually have a lot in common. One of those being a love for cheerios. (Or for Diesel food in general) Here they both fought for the coveted cereal. Pretty funny :)
Hawkes showed a little better manners & even seemed willing to share with his Buddy. We will have to work with Dies because he was being pretty selfish trying to snag all the cheerios for himself!
Cute Buddies :)

cute enough to eat

Why is Diesel hiding in the bathroom behind the toilet you ask?
Well it's a rather funny story, so I will tell you:
As I went in to my super cluttered craft room yesterday, I noticed some things that didn't seem right. Hmm.. it seemed as if Diesel had been in there and chewed up some of my supplies.. I thought to myself how strange..Diesel hardly ever chews up anything besides his alloted toys? Then as I took a closer look I realized he must have thought my lovely Amy Butler decorative brads were candy! Yes my little pup will do anything to find himself some food :)
They didn't even smell like anything, I checked.
So in my annoyed state I called downstairs to Jer for him to discipline his dog! (We don't like to claim him as our own when he has been naughty.) Jeremy who was busy playing angry birds at the time yelled at Diesel in a fake angry voice to come to him. Jeremy couldn't find Dies for a minute, but then called up to me saying "Cassie you have to come see this!" Well Diesel must have already known he was in trouble & had decided to punish himself & went straight into the bathroom to hide. (this is where we regularly put him if he has done something naughty)
I mean REALLY.. How can you be mad looking at that face? He really has mastered the puppy dog eyes don't you think??
Well we didn't have it in us to reprimand him at that point so we decided to let him off with a warning & a few pictures :)
(I will have you know Jeremy is the softy of the two of us, I am going to have to discipline our kids because he really can't do it even with Diesel)
I do have to say these little brads are mighty sweet, I can see why Diesel thought they would taste yummy! They were almost cute enough to eat!

bow ties

Diesel has always been a fashionable young guy. Jeremy has mentioned that he may even be metro. It's mainly my fault since he grew up with all women.. He loves to cuddle, hates getting dirty, enjoys looking good & I wouldn't have it any other way!
Still glad Jeremy took him in with open arms & adopted my little buddy. ;)
I saw this bow tie collar & knew diesel HAD to have it.
If only Jeremy had as much style as this little pup..

Big Bear Love

Valentine's Day went a little something like this..
10am- cleaned the whole house.
12pm- walk Diesel/chat with grandparents.
(My grandparents are so stinking cute. I sent them a Valentine with some fun dip in it, & they wanted to know what amount of water they should use to make it into a kool aid? Apparently they had never had it before, so I had to explain that is was just pure sugar you eat :))
1pm- come home from my walk to see Jer doing the dishes... *In love* doing the dishes is my least favorite wifely duty!
1:01pm- Diesel & I notice the biggest bear we have ever seen!!!
It came along with a really sweet Vday playlist :)
(which was funny since I was going to make Jer a playlist, but every time I asked him to bring home a blank c.d he wouldn't & said he'd forgot. Really he was just stealing my idea!)
At first Diesel was a little skeptical of Mr. Bear... Possibly even frightened I think, but this is what I found when I came downstairs from putting away laundry....
L   O   V   E
4pm- Jer comes home early from work & we play donkey kong for 2 hours. It was really romantic. :)
6pm- feel obligated to attend our ward Valentine's party. Stay for 2 hours of awkwardness. Jeremy promises me HE will blog about it.
8pm- sad moment.. We had planned to watch the Bachelor, but somehow it hadn't recorded..
I was basically devastated.
8:30pm-on: gave Jeremy a coupon for a free massage, that he redeemed immediately. Bathed & listened to Jeremy's wonderful playlist. Took a trip down memory lane, talking about funny/nice things we remembered while we were dating. Jeremy slept like a baby while I uploaded pictures on my computer.

All & all it was a really nice Valentine's Day. Even though I didn't get diamonds, a nice dinner, or a huge romantic gesture I think it was perfect.. I got to hang out with my best friend. It is always nice to spend one day thinking of the another person & doing nice things for them. Jeremy made me feel special & loved & I think that's what it's all about...
Hope everyone had a wonderful Love day!
xoxo Cassie & Diesel :)

San Felipe Weekend

This last weekend we stayed in San Felipe. I have to say I used to dread the weekends we stay here, but now don't mind them as much. I feel much better adjusted with how to use my time & stay entertained. When Saturday came Jeremy asked what I wanted to do, after I threw down a veto on going golfing I said "let's do a photo shoot on the beach!" Jeremy said he didn't want to be my model..wah wah. Fine I said, you can be my assistant, & blow up the turtle. But by the time we blew up the turtle & got to the beach a thick fog set in..
I thought this was going to ruin my little session, but it actually made a cool background.
Diesel was happy as a clam chasing Jeremy around & eating sand & then choking it back out as per usual.
I was amazed at how long this little guy's tongue is! He was of course a great sport & as photogenic as ever :)
Jer by the end decided he did want to show off his modeling skills. haha this picture cracked me up, even more after I edited it!
Anyways I am loving my new camera & the challenges it & photoshop bring. I just wish I had more things and/or people to take pictures of. Hopefully this weekend I can get Truman to stand still long enough to snap some pics of him & Teddy.

I wanted to write down that Sunday was a lot better this week. I almost have learned all the kids names which helps a lot. Sometimes it is a blessing & a curse to me that Jeremy is  fluent in Spanish. He helps bridge the gap in our little ward translating back & forth which I think really helps. This Sunday however I think he was sick of feeling like all he does is play telephone back & forth. He translated all of sacrament, all of combined Relief Society & Priesthood, then after church for about an hour someone was grabbing on his arm asking for him to translate something for them. I swear he knows more about what's going on in our ward than the branch president! He is so good to do it though with a smile on his face.

Models Needed...

Because I'm pretty sure Diesel is pretty sick of me taking pictures of him. I am sort of getting the hang of my new camera. It for sure takes awesome photo's, it's just a matter of patience getting all the settings right! So if anyone wants to come hang out with me in Mexico  would love to have a real person to snap pictures of!? Jeremy is not a REAL person if you were wondering..

Family Pics 2010

Here are the 2010 Kemp family pictures! Jer was a pill about getting them taken
but once we were there everything went along great! :) So much fun getting them with my talented cousin Kelli!

Kelli did such a great job! Diesel was a champ too, always looking cute for the pictures :)
