Lake Powell 2011

So as I mentioned we recently got back from Lake Powell! I have such fond memories of going every summer with my family and friends.
This year we went over labor day, which was perfect temperature wise. Jeremy's parents were so kind to let us bring our friends down to hang out with them & their buddies on the newly renovated boat.
Some of the fun things we did:
hung out on the "Salon". The salon was a dream come true, with it's enormous size we could all fit, get some tanning in, and even wash our hair through the convenient hole. Hence the reason we named it the salon.
lots of fishing, catching mainly carp, eww!
hiking.. only Jeremy participated here
Apparently Jeremy struggled climbing down on his own.. And that's why you should always use the buddy system!
At night the Salon turned into a hill.. which needed a king
Jeremy drowning his brother, every mothers nightmare..
sightseeing
cliff jumping
Jeremy & I jumping together for our 2 year anniversary, because couples who jump together stay together! :)
when we decided to all jump together but somehow only Jeremy jumped.. hehe
and last but not least, walking on water!
Meg & Tate the happily engaged couple ;)
We got a little carried away with the pictures..
*This one is my favorite, too cute!
some tricks & acrobats..
then just some good old modeling from the boys
though I don't have photos to prove it, there was also
awesome book reading
delicious food
games
great company
and a lots of playing hearts (card game). Earl is still in the dog house for passing me the Queen twice!
Thanks again Earl & Sandy for being great hosts, we had a blast! Looking forward to many more powell trips!

2 Years

Jeremy & I celebrated our anniversary in the middle of Lake Powell this year.. which may not be the most romantic place on the planet, but we also celebrated by having dinner at my favorite restaurant & exchanging gifts before we left. I was thrilled to get a tripod, and Jeremy is a proud owner of a new golf ball display :)
Instead of grouping it with our trip, I think our 2 year anniversary deserves it's very own post! It was so fun to look back at all the pictures of Jeremy & me to see all the things we have done & places we have been in just two years! What a wonderful man I married :)

I feel very blessed to be married to my best friend. I love you Jer! Can't wait for the many years to come :)

Kate Spade look alike

So as I mentioned forever ago, I found this Kate Spade dress that I fell in love with! (I am obsessed with anything that has lots of color :)) Naturally it was way too expensive for me to purchase, so I had to figure out a way to have my own rainbow beauty just like it!
I searched everywhere for a similar fabric, but with no luck.. so I hopped on Spoonflower where they print custom fabric & created my own. Then using my resources here in Mexico I had a similar dress made! I was really pleased with how it turned out.
(excuse the wrinkles.. unfortunately especially for my husband, ironing just isn't in the cards for me)
Even though I wish it wasn't quite so bright & a little bit shiny like the original fabric, all the colors just make me happy :)
In the end my look a like Kate Spade dress cost me only $45! ($30 for the custom fabric & $15 for the labor) Just about 1/10th of the cost of the original! Can't complain about that :) Right now I have a summer cover up & my sister's homecoming dress waiting at the tailors, & I can't wait to pick them up!
To see my other custom dress go here.

Apple Orchard

I'm back!! I was in Lake Powell all last week which means no internet for blogging. (that post to come later) Before Powell I was in Utah being crazy busy! Can't wait to show you all the stuff we have been up to! To start off here are some shots I got of my cute cousins in an apple orchard last week..
This cute little one is Will
This little firecracker is Lucy. She seriously has such a fun personality!
And this sweetheart is Elle. I loved to tend & play with her when I was younger & my sister Prezley was too old to mother anymore :) Her & Lucy were adorable flower girls at my wedding!
The lighting was a little tricky with all the shadows & sunspots but with the help of my lovely assistant Ashley I think we got some great shots of the kids.
The cute lavender chair Lucy is sitting on was my grandmother Ella Lou's :)
This one cracks me up, especially Lucy's serious face!
Simply adorable :)

I loved how dreamy this one turned out of Elle.
Such a fun little photo shoot! A word of caution though, Ashley was smart enough to call her neighbor & ask permission to go onto their land, and she warned us that just next week they were spraying the orchard with hazardous chemicals and all her kids would have gotten sick! So before you just show up, make sure you get permission so you don't put anyone in danger!
