Halloween fever!

Halloween has taken over my mind, it is all I can think about! Now that Jer & I finally agreed on a costume (so frustrating) I can blog about the runner ups for all of you who may need an idea.
How cute is this dinosaur costume from Urban Outfitters? So sweet yet comfy. I still kind of want to buy it to wear to bed or something..
I have always wanted to dress up as MJ because I love him so much. I was so sad when he died, because then everybody wanted to dress up as him when I had already planned on it. ( and because he was no longer alive of course!) I tried to get Jer to do MJ with me this year but he wouldn't. :( R.I.P Michael.
I mean come on, how funny would it be to do jersey shore??! I could totally do the snooki poof! I though for sure Jer would be in on this one.. He loves these retards, but no he thought the costumes were too dumb.
Jer turned down all my ideas-
egyptians
creepy clowns
Vanilla Ice (love that he is on the diy network)
jellyfish
lady gaga
several other good ideas
All he said to me is that he wanted to be "ugly". Seriously Jer, that's not a costume, who wants to dress up as a hideous person? I don't mean bloody or gruesome because I would be cool with that, but NO he just wants to look ugly.. What is wrong with this kid?! Fortunately I finally came up with a way he could look ugly that also coordinated with me as a couple costume. Shesh he can be so difficult sometimes!

In other news I am really excited to make some spooky things.
I love these monster cupcakes.

I LOVE this cake! It is so easy but perfect for halloween. I bet my little brother Jacko will make this with me.
I also think the mummy cake is the best! It is simple & sleek which I like better anyways.
I swear at some point I will make these cute pumpkins which would be perfect for halloween & thanksgiving!

Last but not least...Love twilight?? How awesome are these team Edward & Jacob prints my sister in law Erin did for a halloween/monster art show? I totally want to decorate my house every October with these!! They are currently at the Blonde Grizzly in SLC.

Reviews & such

It's crazy that after living in San Felipe MX for over a year now, today is the first day that I have left the house and drove somewhere by myself. (not including Jeremy's office up the road!)
It is weird the things we take for granted, like feeling the safety & comfort to drive places near to you by yourself. I am proud I made it out today!
Random note: I have been mesmerized by clouds lately. Not sure why.
Clouds via weheartit

I recently just finished this book my sister in law Amy lent me, & really enjoyed it. It wasn't a page turner because it was a bunch of short stories & events, but it was super interesting to read. It is a true story based on the recollections of a girl who's parents were educated & capable but chose to be homeless & travel without a care. Really make's you glad your parent's are normal.
While in Vegas we saw the social network. I thought it was pretty cool to see behind the scenes how the idea came about. The story about how facebook is really interesting to me because it is something I use on a daily basis. I thought it was funny but a little show at times. Justin Timberlake is an awesome bad guy. Makes me wish I could come up with the next online trend! :)

Only 2 more days till I am in Utah! Wahoooo!

Thank you mexico!!

Mexico has done it again.
Yep.
Just when I thought I couldn't hate it more than I already do.
It goes and does something like this.
AAAAAAHHHHHH!
I hate you Mexico.
Here is the story of why:
So my younger sister Prezley was turning 16 and REALLY wanted a car. I had the white jeep down with me in Mexico but never used it because A) there is no where for me to go. B) We always go in the truck everywhere. And C) The jeep is old & the battery dies if we don't use it on a constant basis. So we decided it would be better used by Prezley since I don't think my jeep liked living in Mexico anyways. So my family was heading down to Vegas Thursday & I was bummed Jer & I couldn't head down till Friday afternoon, because Jer had promotional meetings.
We left our house at 5 to head to Mexicali.
5 am in the morning.
Meaning not even close enough to 8 hours of sleep.
I followed Jer in the jeep for the 2 hour drive to Mexicali.
After an hour driving around with him to radio stations we went back & parked at the TOURISM OFFICE. (where they promote tourism in mexico.)
I pulled my purse & lap top out & went to take a nap in Jer's truck nearly 20 ft away. Mind you where I parked my jeep was in broad daylight, next to all the employee cars, on a main street.

Here's where it happened.

We go over to my jeep so I can cross the border when we notice that my door was unlocked.
Weird we thought.
I look in the back & see that all our bags are still sitting there. (thank heavens because all my new favorite clothes were packed.)
My ipod is still sitting on the middle console.

Just as I am putting in the key to get the car started
I see something..
and my stomach drops..
The deck has been ripped out.
STOLEN.
(I have never had anything stolen from me before)
And all that is left is wires hanging out.
I feel a rush of panic, anger, fear.

Jeremy being the positive person that he is points out that at least they didn't steal my ipod and all our clothes.
This does not make me feel any better.
I paid for that stereo myself. With my own money.
How could someone do that I thought? I know it is just a stereo that didn't cost me more then $120, but I just felt so violated.

So we headed to cross the border & I was feeling very anxious at this point.
Jer called & asked how I was doing as he had already crossed the border & I was not moving and had forever to go.
Me: "Im so freaking mad! Here I am at the tourism office, promoting your stupid country (mexico) and you do this to me. You break into my car & steal my radio!"
You really did it this time mexico.
I hate you so bad.
It doesn't end here.
The air in the jeep doesn't work that well especially if you are not moving sitting on burning hot asphalt.
I am in line for over an hour.
I am sweating like a dog.
Really I was soaked.
I was really nervous about crossing by myself.
I had an hour to think about how mad I was about my stereo & living in San Felipe.
It was so awful & when I got to the border I didn't catch a break.
The guy questioned me to death. Who's car was I driving? My family is from Utah? But I'm taking the car to Vegas? Why was I driving alone without my husband?
So they sent me to secondary revision (this is where they send suspected drug traffickers & illegals aliens.) because they thought I was suspicious. After a 1/2 hour of being drilled on everything they finally let me leave right after he told me how dangerous San Felipe is & how he didn't know why I would want to live there.
Thanks buddy. As if I am the one who wants to live here. Mind you own business jerk.
So by the time I had crossed the border & got in the car with Jer I couldn't help it... I broke down, crying.
Jer: "Cass what's wrong?"
Me: "Nothing, I just want to eat my subway sandwich & cry!"
After not much pause..
Jer: " Come on Cass, just tell me what's wrong."
Me: Still crying & taking a bite of my sandwich, "nothing just don't talk to me."
Jer doesn't know how to give people their space.
So after he keeps bugging me I tell him the whole story. Tell him how mad I am, how hot & soaking wet I am, how tired I am, & how much I ABSOLUTELY HATE mexico.
He chuckled & said maybe it was good for me.
Excuse me??!! That's the sympathy I get? You are sitting on your high horse in your air conditioned car passing down life lessons to me?
I don't think so.
Me: "I blame Mexico for this, & I hate it!"
Jer: "Oh stop, don't blame Mexico."
Me: "Fine, I blame you, & I hate you."
I truly didn't mean it, & was just being dramatic. I would say joking even.
Jer was not happy about my comment & said something mean back to me.
This made me cry even harder because I didn't want to make him mad & knew I had hurt his feelings.
We quickly made up & were even laughing about it a while later. So don't worry about our relationship.
You should however know that me & Mexico do not have a good relationship.
I have tried to be positive but I don't care.
Mexico, this is Cassie Potter Kemp speaking.
I despise your stinking guts!
I can't wait for the day that I am nowhere near you.
Until then.. PLEASE leave me alone!!!!

Potter's take over Vegas!

This last weekend Jeremy & I were lucky enough to join my family in Vegas! (minus Nick,Erin,Atlas,Tanner & Diesel :()
We had a wonderful time staying in a suite at the redrock hotel/casino. It honestly was so nice, clean & cool. It wasn't on the strip which was actually really nice. It had a seriously awesome pool, movie theater, & bowling alley all in our hotel! Here are some pics from the trip.
 Prezley's 16th birthday!
The infamous white jeep that we trailered down. (Story of how that went in previous post)
Handing over the keys. I absolutely love this jeep. I have had it since my junior year of high school. I am glad it is staying in the family, because I have a lot of good memories this car.
My breakfast at the buffet! That's the best part about Vegas I think, is the buffets.
 Jeremy had ice cream.
 Team 1
 Team 2
We bowled during the day which was fun! I scored my highest ever with a 138! (proof above)
We DID NOT eat at the stripper bar! I was scared to even get close in case she wasn't wearing underwear.
 The girls
 The whole crew.
We shopped, ate & walked around Vegas until my feet were so sore. Jeremy & my dad stayed up late both gambling. Naughty boys.
 Jax at the pool.
The pool was really awesome. One of the best I have ever seen. It wasn't super warm, but nice to just relax & play spoon.
How freaking cute is preggo meggo? I love her belly!
There was a catwalk under water so Prez & I did some poses to entertain ourselves :)

The view of the pool from our window.
Even though it was hell getting to Vegas, once we got there everything was great. I hope we do another trip soon!

Halloween Movies!

Last night as I was switching through the channels I was ecstatic when I saw ghostbusters 2 was on & had just started! Jeremy was not as pumped saying ghostbusters 1 was better. (Who cares what he thinks, he fell asleep half way thru anyways.)
I love coming across these childhood favorites. Some are not as good as I remembered, but this one was just as awesome as I had thought it would be! :) It really put me in the mood for other childhood favorites that could be halloween oriented. Here is my list:
Watcher in the woods: It is by disney which is a little strange to me, but it is a perfect little creepy movie.
Return to OZ: I'm sure you all have seen the wizard of oz but if you have not seen the 2nd you are in for a treat. It doesn't totally make sense because Dorthy is somehow younger & the characters are all a little different but I love it anyways. The wheelers & the queen with lot's of heads is super spooky!
Poltergeist: When I was young I really enjoyed scary movies. I may have watched this movie along with the 2nd & 3rd poltergeist a million times. No joke I have probably seen this movie more than any other movie I have ever watched. It actually is pretty evil scary, but it never seemed bothered me when I was young.
The legend of sleepy hollow & Ichabad crane: This is actually just a short story by disney in The adventures of Ichabad Crane & Mr. Toad. Although this is the only part of it I remember. It's short, spooky, & sweet.
Hocus Pocus: This one has the perfect halloween feel to it. Perfect mix of fun with a little scary. I used to always want to be Sarah Jessica Parker because she was the prettiest witch. (I wasn't concerned she was also the dumbest, at the time) I for sure want to watch this one before Halloween.
The nightmare before christmas: I don't know if this counts as a "childhood" movie because I remember being a little older... but since it is animated I think it works. I love the songs in this & the feeling of it being ok to embrace a little bit of your dark side :)
Little Monsters: Proof that there really is something under your bed. I always loved this one a lot! I actually just recently introduced it to Jaxon although he said it was kind of scary & had bad dreams after.. Oopps. Sorry kiddo.
Casper: I loved watching this one around halloween. I always had the hots for Casper when he finally turned into his human form.

Gremlins: This one is courteous of Nick I believe. Anyways it is another one I have seen so much I know everything that happens. I'm pretty sure my mom even bought us the stuffed animals. It is for sure a classic & great for a child's imagination.

Come to think of it going through these movies almost all of my favorite childhood movies could fit under the "halloween category" Since they all have monsters, creatures of some form or another, nightmares, and make believe dress up characters in them. Including the dark crystal, labyrinth, willow, little nemo, roger rabbit, the never ending story, witches, the list could go on & on.
Now I really wanna purchase all these movies to have in my collection. (I'm big on wanting to own everything I had as a kid so I won't forget it.)
I just love all the memories & magical feelings I had as a kid, there really is nothing better than the excitement you felt. I miss being a kid that's for sure!
Hope you have fun halloween memories & traditions! I would love to hear them if you are in the sharing mood!?
